CodeRover Quick Start Guide & CodeRover APK

Updated: Aug 28, 2023

We managed to shoot a simple quick start guide over the weekend. Hope this video will help you with installing motors and batteries for the CodeRover Core and Controller. If, in any case, you need to remove the batteries from CodeRover Core and Controller. !DO NOT! pull the batteries out by dragging their cords!!! Please use a tweezer or pinch-and-pull the connectors.

If you have an Android device, here is a CodeRover APK you can download and test it out. We will test it again using an Android tablet on Monday and, if necessary, publish a tablet version.

We did run into a little wired Unity build error (gradle build failed) over the weekend, in order to fix this problem, we made some not-so-sure-changes to the app, we will test the Android version with Core again next week, again, if necessary, publish a new version.

CodeRover.apk
.zip
Download ZIP • 88.53MB

We did make sample programs in the CodeRover APP, however, we just did not have enough time to add them to this version. We are expecting a couple more back and forth with the IOS review process, Once we get that done, we will publish a new version that has sample codes. Before that happens, we will add a couple of screenshots to this blog in the next few days.

Remember: Allow the Location usage permission in order to use Bluetooth in the APP. We do NOT collect location data, that's just one of the requirements for using BLE on Android.

Opening the app for the first time, the APP does not automatically connect to Code:Bit. Power on your Core and plug in your Code:Bit first and then open the APP. Once the home screen with the virtual joystick is loaded. Click on the top right icon to go to the Code:Bit list screen.

Once you can see a Code:Bit appear with Pair text on the black button, you can click on the Pair button and wait for the Code:Bit's green light to stop flashing. Once the button's text changed to Unpair and the "plug" icon on the very right is connected. You are ready to use Code:Bit with CodeRover APP.

Known issues in the CodeRover 1.0.1 version of the APP. 1. Drag-and-drop programming works better on a tablet or any Android device with a big screen.

2. After inputting numbers or text in the drag-and-drop block, the programming playground may resize to half the height. Working on resolving this issue.
